Psychological Terms

A short glossary of concepts often used in tests, descriptions and results.

Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is how a person evaluates their qualities, abilities, boundaries and right to make mistakes. It may change with experience, environment and current state.

An online test can suggest a direction for reflection, but it is not a final judgment about a person.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is the ability to notice, understand and regulate emotions, both your own and other people’s. It appears in communication, conflict and everyday choices.

An EQ result is best read as a map of skills that can be developed.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a tendency to expect danger or react tensely to uncertainty. It can be temporary or a stable personal pattern.

If questions or results cause strong discomfort, discuss them with a qualified specialist.

Temperament

Temperament describes a relatively stable reaction style: pace, energy, emotionality and flexibility of attention. It does not determine destiny, but it may explain habitual behavior.

Psychodiagnostics

Psychodiagnostics is professional assessment using methods, interviews and observation. Online versions can only provide a preliminary reference point.

Diagnosis, treatment and official conclusions should be made by qualified professionals.
